Homeland Security
As your representative in Congress it is my duty to readily support and supply our military and intelligence officials with all the tools that they need to achieve success in keeping the United States secure. As new threats emerge, our armed forces must have the tools they need to respond.
I do not believe that a defensive posture to threats is effective. While I strongly support diplomatic means of resolving conflicts, the alarming fact is that there are those around the world who wish us harm. In these situations, I believe it is the duty of Congress and the President to protect the American people.
In addition, I believe the United States needs to strongly support our allies in regions where threats exist or may emerge. We must also continue to support democratic movements in countries where leaders have used the elimination of basic human rights and oppression as a means to govern.
